President Droupadi Murmu Flags Off Three New Trains, Inaugurates Key Infrastructure Projects in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: President Droupadi Murmu, on the second day of her three-day visit to Odisha, emphasized the vital role of connectivity in the development of any region. At the Badampahar Railway Station, she flagged off three new trains, marking a significant milestone in the enhancement of transportation infrastructure in the state.

The newly inaugurated trains include the Badampahar – Tatanagar MEMU, Badampahar – Rourkela Weekly Express, and Badampahar – Shalimar Weekly Express. President Murmu underlined the importance of rail, road, and postal services in simplifying the lives of people and fostering growth.

In addition to the train inaugurations, the President virtually inaugurated the new Rairangpur Postal Division, releasing a Commemorative Special Cover for the division. She also laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Badampahar Railway Station, showcasing her commitment to upgrading essential infrastructure.

President Murmu expressed confidence that the three new trains would significantly benefit locals, facilitating travel to neighboring states like Jharkhand and West Bengal, as well as connecting the industrial town of Rourkela. She acknowledged the enduring relevance of India Post, stating that despite the prevalence of cell phones and courier services, the inauguration of the new Postal Division at Rairangpur is a pivotal event for the region.

Highlighting the government’s dedication to tribal development, President Murmu noted the nearly threefold increase in the current budget compared to the Financial Year 2013-14. She stressed that inclusive development is incomplete without the progress of tribal communities, urging tribal youth to take advantage of government schemes.

President Murmu concluded the event by emphasizing the significance of the PM- Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, a government initiative aimed at connecting Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) with development. After the ceremony, she symbolically traveled in the Badampahar – Shalimar Express, embodying the spirit of progress and connectivity.

The initiatives launched by President Murmu reflect a comprehensive strategy to enhance connectivity, promote inclusive development, and bring about positive change in the lives of the people of Odisha.
