Bhubaneswar, November 23, 2023- The State Level Painting Competition 2023 on Energy Conservation, organized by the Ministry of Power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India, took place on November 21, 2023. The Institute of Engineers in Bhubaneswar served as the venue for this prestigious event, with NTPC, the nodal agency appointed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), leading the conducting of the competition.
The theme for the competition was carefully chosen to inspire young artists to reflect on the significance of their actions in conserving energy. It revolved around two focal points: “LiFE – Mindful and Deliberate Utilization, Instead of Mindless and Destructive Consumption” and “One Earth, Many Efforts.”
NTPC ER-II Headquarters brilliantly coordinated the State Level Painting Competition in the state of Odisha, gathering participation from an impressive number of students from across the region. A total of 47,413 schools spread throughout 30 districts of Odisha eagerly engaged in the School Level Competition, showcasing their artistic prowess and commitment to energy conservation.
The State Level Competition witnessed the remarkable talent of 100 students, with 50 participants in each of the two categories, A and B. These young artists presented awe-inspiring creations, impressing the esteemed judging panel and spectators alike.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Shri Partha Mazumdar, Regional Executive Director of NTPC (Eastern Region – II), added a touch of prestige to the event with his presence. He was joined by Smt. Soudamini Dash, Jt. Director (OSEPA), Shri Rajnish Rastogi, General Manager (HR) at NTPC, and Er. Sangram Keshari Pattnayak, Hon’ Secretary of Odisha State Centre, Institute of Engineers, all of whom served as guests of honor. Their presence not only elevated the event but also took the opportunity to encourage and inspire young artists by presenting prizes to the winners.
In the category for students from the 5th to 7th class (Category-A), the winners were as follows:
- First Place: Aradhya of DAV Public School, CS Pur Bhubaneshwar
- Second Place: Shriyas Panda of Maculay School, Cuttack
- Third Place: Anita Routray of Sai International School, Bhubaneshwar
For students from the 8th to 10th class (Category-B), the winners were:
- First Place: Debanshi Mohanty of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Bhubaneshwar
- Second Place: Ashirbad Das of DAV Public School, MCL Dera
- Third Place: Rachana Mohapatra of LR DAV Public School, Cuttack
Additionally, there were ten consolation prizes awarded in each group, recognizing the remarkable efforts and creativity displayed by a wider range of participants.
The top three winners from each category in the State Level Competition will now get the opportunity to showcase their skills on a national platform. They have earned the chance to represent Odisha in the upcoming National Level Painting Competition 2023, which will be held in New Delhi on December 11, 2023. This event promises to bring together talented young artists from all over the country, competing to raise awareness and promote the urgent need for energy conservation.
The State Level Painting Competition 2023 serves not only as a platform for young artists to display their talent and creativity but also as a reminder of the critical role we all play in conserving energy and preserving our planet for future generations.
